How far in advance should I shop for my (Wedding) dress?

Most brides will start shopping about a year before their big day. If a bride is living abroad she might even start before this. We recommend leaving it no later than 4 to 6 months before your wedding. After ordering, dresses can take 2 to 5 months to arrive, and we usually recommend starting your alterations 4 to 6 weeks before your wedding.

What is the average price of a dress?

At ExC Fashion House, we believe that everyone, regardless of their price range, should be able to afford their own DREAM gown. That’s why we’ve dedicated ourselves to providing beautiful dresses and gowns at reasonable prices here in the Ghent area. For those in the early stages of wedding planning, we encourage you to have a look at our gallery and browse Atelier ExC google review page to get a better sense of what we can do for you!

DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT TO TRY ON DRESSES?

To try on dresses we always provide a one-on-one consultation with a bridal expert. We also provide your own dressing room suite where the focus is entirely on you. For this reason you will need to book an appointment in advance first.

Is the appointment private?

Yes! We believe finding the perfect dress is a personal experience which is why every appointment you have with us will be in one of our lovely private bridal suites. We have three large fitting areas over our top two floors so brides are always guaranteed privacy, as well as the attention of a dedicated stylist.

Your wedding gown is the most important dress you will ever buy and we want to make sure that you have all the attention you deserve and require for your finding your dream gown.

What happens if I need to cancel/reschedule my appointment?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make the appointment available to other brides. A Saturday appointment requires 48 hours cancellation/rescheduling notice for a refund.

Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?

Take a look through our selection of bridal dresses on our website and social media and make note of any features or particular styles which appeal to you. It is also useful to browse and collect images on sites like Pinterest, or do it the old fashioned way and cut pictures from magazines.

We recommend bringing nude underwear and a strapless bra to your appointment, but don’t worry if you don’t have neither of these, it isn’t essential. We have a range of shoes you can try with the dresses but you are also welcome to bring your own if you wish. Make-up on your face is fine however please do not wear make-up on your neck area, no fake tan, no lotions or bronzing on your body. We understand you want to feel amazing trying on the dresses, but we want to be able to keep them looking as beautiful as possible for everyone.

How many people can I bring with me to my appointment?

Whilst it may seem like a wonderful idea to bring all your friends and family with you to your appointment, we have found from experience that this can be quite stressful and confusing for the bride. With this in mind, we strongly recommend that you bring a very small select trusted number of guests to your appointment. This will allow you to relax and enjoy the appointment without too many conflicting ideas and opinions, so that the focus is solely on you to ensure we can help you find the perfect dress.

Can I take pictures in my appointment?

Unfortunately we can’t allow pictures in the appointment. We have this policy for a number of reasons. Most of our designers don’t allow pictures. Another reason is that the dresses probably aren’t fitting you properly so an image of a dress that doesn’t fit you is never a good idea. The appointment can quickly go from how you feel in a dress to whether you’re social media ready and you’re looking at yourself more on your friends phone screen than thinking about how you look and feel in the dresses.

Lastly and most important, it is to protect the brides that bought dresses from us. Seeing a badly taken picture on social media of your dress that is ill-fitting on someone would be upsetting for any bride, so please respect that we ask all phones to be put away in bags or coats while in the dressing room suite.
